YouTube Battleground
YouTube Battleground
Good morning to all of you. I’m not gonna talk about Game of Thrones today. Except I’m gonna talk about a real-life battleground as in Game of Thrones, YouTube battleground. Maybe you haven’t heard this before, but there are often battles going on on YouTube between YouTubers and of course between their fans. Some battles end within a couple of weeks and some are going on for years. So, today, I’m gonna talk about the battle of the century on YouTube: the 100 million subscribers battle between PewDiePie and the T-series.
As you know, PewDiePie was the first YouTuber in the world who crossed the 50 million subscribers achievement and at that time he had the most subscribers in the world. He was considered the king of YouTube as no other YouTube channels came even near to his sub count. But in late 2018, the subscriber count of T-series; an Indian music production channel began to near PewDiePie’s count and then both of their fans wanted their favourite channel to be at the top of the chart. That’s when the battle began. Fans decided to set a goal unless this battle will go forever. The margin was whoever gets the 100 million subscribers first wins. At first, everyone thought it was a silly competition but as time goes, the whole world was excited to see the result. Even the YouTubers themselves worked for the win. A lot of their supporters, their friends, influencers and most importantly, the fans worked hard for this competition.
This battle took
an intense turn around the first quarter of 2019. Their fans did huge campaigns
for their idol to achieve the 100million target. Finally, after almost half an
year, on 28th April 2019, this battle reached a conclusion. The Indian music
label T-series achieved 100 million subscribers beating PewDiePie who could
achieve only around 97 million subs by then. On that day T-series became the
first YouTube channel to pass 100 million subscribers. After a month, PewDiePie
also hit 100 million subs becoming the first individual who had achieved it.
Even after the battle ended, still some sparks were there. India had a huge
population and T-series was not an individual person. Therefore the community
decided to let PewDiePie stays as the king of YouTube furthermore until someone
takes it from him.
For
PewDiePie’s 100 million subs campaign, Mr Beast, one of the YouTubers who had
millions of subs supported unconditionally. And one-time PewDiePie himself said
that he wouldn’t be sad if Mr Beast ever surpass him and claim his throne which
actually happened last week. After 13 years of his YouTube life, Mr Beast hit
100 million subs last week. Even though Mr Beast has less sub count than Pewds,
his channel growth is very higher than others. And his content has so many
views than any other YouTuber. For example, his Squid Game in the real-life
video alone has around 300 million views. Therefore, fans consider that
PewDiePie who was considered the king of YouTube for more than 10 years, was
dethroned by the current king of YouTube Mr Beast. After all, they are very
good friends, they do their creative content, and they will stay as YouTube
legends forever.
Thank you.
